Comodo Dragon – Web Browser Review

On Feb 11, 2010 – Comodo released a new web browser called Comodo Dragon. It is made from the Chromium Browser used by Google Chrome. However, Comodo Dragon is a little safer than Google Chrome in 2 areas. It does not transmit errors to websites that you visit like Google Chrome does. This helps protect you because websites that are trying to attack your computer will use error information for the attack. If your Comodo Dragon browser does not report errors, then the attack could have a better chance of being avoided. Another new security feature in the Comodo Dragon web browser will test every website you go to and report if the website has a common “Domain only” certificate. If the website only has a common certificate, then the website may not be the most secure and Comodo Dragon will inform you about it. (example: attack sites use common certificates because they can be used without going through a verification process.)

Security is not the only reason the Comodo Dragon browser is considered a good pick. Speed is the other reason. With the Comodo Dragon web browser being designed from the Chromium browser. You get the benefit of the speed that comes with using Comodo Dragon. And the speed is well…  Very nice.

Overall Security Comparison. ASG feels that the Comodo Dragon browser is safe and secure. When compared to Google Chrome it’s a better choice for security. ASG would also recommend it for use as a replacement for Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. But, ASG still believes that Firefox with the No Script add-on installed is by far safer. Here’s the info on Firefox with No Script.
