Set a Password in Windows Vista


The steps below will show you how to set a password on every user account in Windows Vista or 2008. You can also use the steps to change a password but you must be logged into Windows in order to change the passwords.

  1. Right click on Computer and choose Manage.
  2. Then click on “System Tools”,
  3. Next click “Local User and Groups”,
  4. Next click on the “Users” folder.
  5. Now in the right hand side of your screen you will see a list of your users that have access to your computer. You want to set a password for every user in the list.
  6. To set a password, right click on a user and choose set password. ASG recommends setting a completely different password for each user in the list. Click here for a screenshot
