Google Chrome - Is it safe?

The results are in. ASG has tested Google Chrome and deemed it to be Safe. However when you compare it to Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer. It is not safer.

ASG was hoping for a lot of good to come from Google Chrome and expect some will. ASG always hopes for some new security features that will revolutionize security and make other browsers follow.

The best thing ASG discovered is the Incognito browsing option. If you are using the incognito browsing function the information gathered during your session will not be saved. Just keep in mind that it does not clear your download history.

ASG does not discourage the use of Google Chrome, but for the safest browsing experience we do not recommend it either. What does ASG recommend?

Security Issues with Google Chrome:

  • No feature to automatically clear browsing history
  • No master password to protect stored user passwords (anyone that uses your computer can look at all of the passwords stored in Google Chrome)
  • Extremely limited security features
UPDATE ! - Google Chrome ranked as the lowest in a Security test performed by NSS Labs. Here is a link to the story on Yahoo - Here is a link to the test results from NSS Labs
