On July 22nd 2008 - the Adsense account belonging to ASG was closed by an unauthorized individual. This individual contacted Google by email requesting that the adsense account be closed and a separate new account be opened. Google ended up approving the actions without verifying any information. Googles standard verification method is having an email sent to Google with a request from the email that originally opened the Adsense account. In this case the individual duped Google representatives by claiming to no longer have the correct login credentials for the ASG adsense account. Thankfully Google policy in this case is to close the original account and force the user to open an entire new account. This policy did protect the information contained in the ASG Adsense account, however it did not prevent unauthorized account closer. What to do if this happens to you! If by chance this unwanted action takes place with your Adsense account. You will want to contact Google from your original email account that you opened your Adsense account with. This may take a few days to resolve but in our experience dilegently contacting them everyday seemed to get the issue resolved. Why cant I contact Google by phone? At this time and with no information on future planning. Google does not offer any customer support or service by telephone. Your only method of contact with Google is via email. Who else can I use as an advertising alternative? Yahoo is starting an Ad publisher network much like Adsense but is still testing before their release. You can contact Yahoo and try to enroll in their program. There is also Widget Bucks that also offers a network much like Adsense. Both of these companies are likely candidates for a replacement of Google Adsense if your looking for a change.
